President Denise welcomed our guest speaker, Elijah Mareko, Youth Mental Health Advocate, and his parents Norman and Tina. She also welcomed Neil Macdonald, guest of John O'Connell and possible future member of the club.
President's Notices
Club Presidents will be asked to vote on regionalisation in Zone 8 by representing the views of the majority of their members. The vote will read:
"This club approves participation in a pilot to develop, test and evaluate a new regional approach to supporting and governing Rotary and Rotaract clubs and members in Zone 8 from July 2023 to June 2026.” Yes or No.
Voting commences from noon AEST on Thursday 15th September and will remain open for 15 days, closing at noon AEST Thursday 29th September.

This week we were treated to a talk by Elijah Mareko, Mana MP Barbara Edmond’s nominee to be the Mana representative at the 2022 Youth Parliament. It was entitled “My journey through 2022- so far”. He wants to see young people take more interest in politics, and confessed that for him, a political career is now looming as an alternative to joining the RNZAF. You can read Mike's report here.

Jenny reminded members that an order has now gone in for Rotary jackets. These will arrive in about three weeks time.
Denise wished Euon Murrell and Ann Scannell respectively very safe and happy holidays abroad.
This week’s happenings
Past President Kay delivered six boxes of antiseptic wipes to Rangikura School a few days ago. The school use a lot of these and were, as always, grateful for our support. The wipes were given to us by Past DG Bob Smith and compliment the boxes we also donated some months ago.
The Outside World

Stories from other parts of the world helps us to appreciate that there's a lot going on everywhere where Rotary has a presence.
