The new President for 2019-2020 is Yvonne Thomson. Yvonne was born in Wellington, though moved to Rangitaua, and back to Petone before settling in Seddon, Marlborough. She attended Marlborough Girls College and in 1971 started at Wellington Teachers College. She married Euan, also from Marlborough, in 1974 and they moved to Christchurch where their three children, Sally, James and Matthew were born.
In 1983, Euan's job brought them back to Wellington and the family settled in Whitby. Yvonne returned to teaching in 1987 and finished her career at the end of 2018, after teaching and leading a team at Discovery School for 17 years.
With retirement in mind, Yvonne joined Inner Wheel in 2013 and joined the committee in 2014. This satisfied her desire to give back to the community as well as enabling her to make many friends.
The International Inner Wheel theme this year is “Together We Can”. Yvonne is looking forward to her year as President and feels confident as Plimmerton Inner Wheel is thriving with a healthy membership of 63. Working together, they are in a good position to make a difference to and improve the lives of others in both the local and international community.
