We've had another very busy month. We've had CPR training, collected essential toiletries for the Women's Refuge and enjoyed a Ten Pin Bowling evening with Tawa Inner Wheel. A group of members also joined with Rotary to survey our parks to see how accessible they were for disabled children.  may_2017

March was another very busy month.  We had Dale Williams to talk to us at our meeting and he is always entertaining. Several members went to the District Meeting in Paraparaumu and another bunch of ladies went off to the Wairarapa for a golf/shopping couple of days. Our big fundraiser for the month was the café at the Rotary Book Fair which raised $1,500 for the Shine project - closing the gaps in reading at Porirua schools.  april_2017

We have now moved our meeting place to the Plimmerton Boating Club. Everyone enjoyed the new venue and our first speaker in our new "home" was the Mayor of Porirua, Mike Tana. He spoke of the way he hopes to improve the city and believes Porirua has great potential. Carolyn Wallace was presented with her year book - an album of all the events which took place in her year as President.  march_2017

Newsletter January 2017

Plimmerton Inner Wheel had another busy month, donating money to the Wellington Free Ambulance and giving gifts to the children whose parents are in prison. The Craft and Book Group also had lovely outings, especially the one to the Library. Just shows libraries are not all about books these days. The Christmas party was lots of fun with good food, wine and Christmas carolling.  january_2017

Newsletter December 2016

November proved to be another busy month for Plimmerton Inner Wheel.  We now sponsor a new World Vision child, a wee 6-year-old boy called Sithan Boun. With the proceeds raised from the sale of the Entertainment Book we were able to donate $564 to the Wellington Free Ambulance.  Through the Angel Tree, a huge amount of gifts were donated for the children of prisoners. And together with Plimmerton Rotary, we  held the Garden Trail again this year. which was a success. The inclement weather did not seem to put people off visiting the many beautiful gardens.  december_2016

Our October speakers were the two Rotary Exchange Students, Laurie from France and Gaelle from Belgium. It was interesting to find out about their interests and how they were enjoying their time as exchange students. We were asked by Zonta Mana for donations of Bras and new Knickers for the for the women at Arohata Prison and we had a great collection,  70+ Bras and 40 pairs of knickers.  november_2016

We've had another busy month with lots of activities. Our fundraising event for Heart Kids - the film Bridget Jones's baby - was a great success raising $1,700. Our WOW evening and Walk and Talk with the Wairarapa ladies were a lot of fun and it was pleasing to see the money we donated to English Language Partners was put to good use with an outing for the local refugees.  october_2016

Last month we had a visit from Dale Julius our District Chairperson.  Our speaker was Nicky Edgar with lots of ideas about fashion and how to de-clutter your wardrobe.  We had volunteers collecting for Heart Kids and Daffodil Day and putting together packs for Fosterhope.
