Plimmerton Rotary theme for this Rotary year - Making a difference within the community

 

 

Jenny Lucas - President

The Rotary International theme for 2017/18 is ‘Rotary – Making a Difference’ and Jenny sees Plimmerton Rotary’s involvement in its community as embodying this ideal. The Rotary Club of Plimmerton works with Porirua City Council, local schools and other service organisations to enhance and improve the environment, education and leadership objectives as evidenced by some projects such as Te Ara Piko, Playable Porirua, speech contests, leadership awards and international service on Taveuni Island, Fiji. Within the club the vibrancy and fellowship at meetings is infectious, and it is a very important aspect in recruiting and retaining members. Her contact details are 027 443 6860.

Peter Cox - Vice President

Peter has been in Rotary 43 years, participating at both club and district level. He is keen to see that knowledge and experience used for the benefit of the community  through the positive initiatives. His contact details are 021 262 5209.


Donna Reed - President Elect

Donna thinks that having the role of Admin Director for President Jenny will give her the opportunity to understand the administration role and responsibilities really well.  She has a very good team who she believes will harmonise well and help the Club to run efficiently. Ron Lucas - Pathway  

Ron is a Pauatahanui boy, born and raised in the area, mostly up the Moonshine Road.  He is passionate about the Pauatahanui Inlet Pathway – Te Ara Piko – and excited about its progress which he has been involved with since its inception. He has been a club director on several occasions and club president in 2013/14. His interests include managing their lifestyle block with its small flock of sheep, as well as tramping and travel, and this year he will supporting Jenny in her role as club president. Wendy Betteridge – Communications

Wendy has a long history in communications, having run her own very successful company, Lasting Impact Limited, for over twenty years, running training programmes on communication issues with major corporations. She is the Club’s webmaster and is passionate about ‘telling Plimmerton’s story’ and involving the community in the club’s many excellent projects. Her contact details are 021 417 576.

Bill McAulay - Youth

Bill joined Plimmerton Rotary in 2012 in order to become more involved in the community and to meet new people. He has been on the Youth Committee since joining. Bill works part-time as an on-line retailer of garden pots. He also does leadership coaching and mentoring in the manufacturing sector. His contact details are 04 233 1875, 027 920 6624.

Ken Gardner - International

Ken has enjoyed a long association with Rotary and in the 1980’s also with Lions International. He joined Plimmerton Rotary in 2014 having previously been a member of the Avonhead Rotary Club in Christchurch where he was treasurer for the years 2010 to 2012. His contact details are 021 08871719.

Emma Scott - Membership

Emma and her team will be trialling some new approaches in membership during President Jenny's term. Some of their projects will involve some close collaboration with the Youth Committee, establishing a satellite club and seeking increasing involvement from existing members. Emma is a Mum of 2, and works in IT commercials and investments. Her contact details are 022 324 2567.

Bruce Couch - Treasurer

Bruce is our Treasurer and keeps us all honest, in a positive way. He’s worked extensively in the finance industry and for Wellington Rugby. His contact details are 04 234 8572, 021 346 912.

Graeme Tongs - Secretary
