Wellington airport comprises a small 110-hectare site on the Rongotai isthmus, a stretch of low-lying land between Wellington proper and the Miramar Peninsula. It operates a single 2,081-metre runway with an Instrumental Landing System in both directions. The airport handles turboprop, narrow-body and wide-body jet aircraft movements. It is bordered by residential and commercial areas to the east and west, and by Wellington Harbour and Cook Strait to the north and south respectively.

Steve Sanderson, CEO, joined Wellington Airport in February 2012. Prior to Wellington Airport, he was the CEO for Queenstown Airport. Steve has predominately a career background in infrastructure businesses including CEO for Dynamic Controls a US-owned company, which is listed on the NY stock exchange, General Manager NZ/Australia at Powerco Limited, and General Manager at Lyttelton Port Company. He is currently a Director of Pioneer Generation and Port Nelson.

Tonight he will talk to us about future developments of the airport, including longer runways, etc.
