Annual Roll Up at Whitby Bowling Club
Posted: 6 March 2015
A lovely evening helped provide the right atmosphere for Rotary’s annual bowls night at the Whitby Bowling Club on Tuesday 3 March.
Some of us rolled up superb balls which quietly kissed kitty, some of us sent balls the wrong way because the “bias” was on the wrong side of the ball and some just had a social chat. Whether playing competitively (as a few clearly were) or playing the “annual roll up” a good time was had by all.
This was the scene at Whitby Bowling Club as some newer members had a go at outdoor bowls for the first time. All enjoyed the evening as demonstrated by the concentration and amusement shown in the photos taken by Graham Craig. Thanks Les Austing for organising this fantastic event.
Next week our guest speaker will be Roger Gascoigne.
Roger is a former Radio and TV presenter. Many of you will remember him from Radio Windy, the TV show “Ready to Roll” and for his work in the Telethon fund raisers. He will be addressing us on Life after Radio.
The Jersey Boys
Alan Nichols is organising a fantastic night at his place. This is not only a social evening, it is also a fund raiser for Swee Tan to start a domino effect on grant applications to help with the funding of Swee Tan’s research. This follows in the wake of many other successful evenings at the Nichols’ such as The Sound of Music, The Royal Wedding and Mama Mia.
