Corinna School wished for 22 girl’s netball uniforms from Plimmerton Rotary's Grant a Wish programme.
The wish was granted.
The black T shirts are sleeveless, V-shaped with the school colours of white and teal green as a continuing strip down the side. This strip continues down the skirt. The skirt has the Plimmerton Rotary symbol embroidered significantly on the front.
I was thrilled to present the cheque to Principal, Michele Whiting, at Friday morning’s Karakia, a gathering with the whole school.
Michele spoke of the school values of Turangawaewae, Aroha, Awhina, Manaakitanga, and Pono underpinning the aspirations of the students. I could see how those values of belonging, love, integrity, trust, equity and high expectations allowed the students to use the older role models to run this gathering very effectively with a sense of pride in Belonging to Corinna School.
When you see the school mission displayed with developing young people who are creative energetic and enterprising with a sense of 
pride in themselves, their culture, their language and their achievements you can see how important it is for Plimmerton Rotary to Grant this Wish.
The girl’s netball team has been built up from one team 3 years ago to 6 teams now, all kitted out in this very eye- catching uniform. The big impact of this is that all the 6 teams and the Saturday competition are organised, coached and taxied by parents who are also very proud of their school community.
I was honoured with a traditional lolly lei. Don’t these netball players look full of pride in their uniform?
