Visitors

It was children's party time tonight so there were just too many visitors to mention. Suffice to say that they all felt very welcome - and spoilt!

The Speaker said ...

There was no speaker tonight - unless you count Father Christmas (who doesn't have a huge vocabulary) ...

But there was definitely magic, demonstrated by a real Magician. Thanks to Donna Reed, it's all recorded here with photos on the Gallery page.

This week's happenings

Many of us will remember when Kim and Becs came to speak to the club about WELLfed. Here's their Spring '19 Newsletter which includes a link to their TED Talk - well worth a watch. They're doing great work in Porirua.

The Parumoana Primary School Speech Competition went off without a hitch, thanks to David Knight's wonderful organisation, and liaison with Sarah Jenner, Deputy Principal of Discovery School. Mike has written another great article which you can read here. And you can find additional photos of the event on the Gallery page.

Snippets

Most members will have been rung about the cost of our Christmas dinner next week, but in case you haven't been rung, it's $45 each. Bruce will invoice members for the additional $20.

What's coming up in December and beyond?

Christmas is coming next week on Tuesday 10 December. Remember to go to Judgeford Golf Course for the annual Christmas party.

On Tuesday 17 December it will be our very last meeting of the year and our Annual General Meeting. Graeme Tongs has sent round all the documents and suggests that you take the opportunity to read them in advance, rather than kill trees by printing them out. A few copies will, however, be available on the night.

Tuesday 21 January 2020 will mark the start of the New Year with a casual evening at Ruby's on Mana Esplanade.

For all future events, go here. Keith Harrison has already started planning an exciting second half of the Rotary year, having done a great job so far.

Parting thought

Although not able to be present, Phillip Reidy sent his Parting Thought in absentia. 'From all the kids, thank you, Mr Nichols, for organising a great Christmas Party!'

Who’s on duty for the next month?

Unable to do your duty? Please find a replacement and inform Philip Mottram.
If you're a late 'no show' please tell President Euon.
Please arrive at 5.45 pm if you're on Door duty or on Introduction duty to greet the Guest Speaker and be his/her host for the evening.
Need to apologise or bring additional guests?
Advise the Receptionist at Professionals before 10.00 am on the Monday before the meeting on 233 9955 or email paremata@dwre.co.nz if you prefer.
Please provide the name (and spelling if necessary). The same applies if you're going to be late.
Euon reminds members that it is the role of the person saying Grace to host Cris for the evening.
