Thanks to Kay, our speaker joined us by Zoom from Melbourne. Dr Kate Gregorevic comprehensively covered the fields in which she is highly qualified, those of geriatric medicine and the science of longevity. Mike has encapsulated her key points here.
This week's happenings
The Rotary Club of Wellington is running an excellent Zoom programme with meetings on Monday at lunchtime and Thursdays at 4.00. Next Monday, for example, Dr Judy Lawrence will be speaking about Climate Change adaptation in the era of Covid-19. If you would like to receive their newsletter, please let the editor know.

President Euon confirmed the following Board decisions:
- We will be continuing with Zoom meetings. at least until the end of May, hopefully with a guest speaker every week. At that time, arrangements for Changeover will be discussed.
- We have funded two Emergency Response Kits (ERKs) to Fiji.
- Les Callear is actively speaking to other clubs to organise a date for the opening of Transmission Gully
- Gwyn Akeroyd has been made an Honorary Member for his long service to the club and his commitment both to the club and to the community.
What's coming up in May and beyond?
Keith Harrison is approaching a number of possible virtual speakers. You'll see some of them on the roster below while others have yet to be confirmed. Next week, Theo Sutorius will be telling us all about the trials and tribulations of returning to New Zealand following his incomplete International Exchange to The Netherlands. Keith has others on his list - Sareta Fraser from KiwiBank who can talk to us about fraud, Bill McAulay's son, Jamie, about the wildlife in Southland, and what DOC is doing down there, and also Justin Hodgkiss whose talk about Managing Climate Impact has already been rescheduled twice.

Derek Oldershaw gave us a very appropriate parting thought attributed to Aristotle who was born in 384 BC. 'It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light'.
