Marion Cowden, the chair of the Vocational Scholarships (aka ‘Global Grants’) committee, gave a presentation to the club and encouraged us to find applicants for these generous and prestigious scholarships.

They are fully funded by the Rotary Foundation and there is no cost to a sponsoring club.

The scholarships are for attendance for one year at a foreign university, to study in one of the six areas of Rotary focus. Each grant is $US30,000.

The logistics are straightforward. The club finds, interviews and sponsors a scholar and if successful, appoints a counsellor. The selections and grants are administered by Marion’s District committee. Scholars must talk to clubs about their experiences, when they return.

The closing date for applications is mid-April each year.
