Plimmerton Rotary: 40 years of service to the community

The Rotary Club of Plimmerton will celebrate its 40th Anniversary on 14 May 2013. Two of the current members were there when it all began.

The Club has been involved in hundreds of projects and raised thousands of dollars for the community in the past 40 years. Here are just a few that they’ve had fun organising.

 Grant a wish‘Granting a Wish’ for Canons Creek pupils Ann Baker, Swim School instructor, having fun with the kids.

4X44x4 participants see the beautiful City from another aspect and raised heaps for Canteen, Te Ara Piko Pathway, Wellington Free Ambulance and Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Plimmerton Rotary’s first contribution to the worldwide Polio Eradication Programme Polio vaccinebegan when they raised $14,000 in 1985. Fiji buildingTwo drops is all it takes to rid the world of Polio.

Refurbishing buildings for Niusawa High School on Taveuni Island, Fiji. Rotarians work hard and teach on-gong skills.

Current Treasurer, Bruce Couch, estimates that The Rotary Club of Plimmerton has distributed close to one million dollars both locally and overseas during its first 40 years. Les Austing and Angus Langbein said, 'we’ve been blown away by what the Club has achieved for the community during this time'.
