We had a very interesting speaker, Anne Hayden, who is very amusing to listen to and told us how she dealt with it when she herself got Breast Cancer. We also had our District Chair visit us and show us the Morna Wood-Moss award which was given to District 294 for the most growth. This was presented to Darlene at the Christchurch Conference. We also enjoyed a wonderful fundraising lunch for Breast Cancer, lots fun, laughter and good food. june_2016

Our April speaker was Helen Webber, the teacher in charge at the He Huarahi Tamariki School for young parents and she gave us an insight into how the school works and had some wonderful stories about the students' achievements. A group of ladies went on an outing into Wellington City visiting the Old Government building, St Paul's and the Archives New Zealand. Several of our members attended the Inner Wheel Conference in Christchurch and had a wonderful time listening to interesting speakers, and meeting new people. may_2016

We had a wonderfully inspiring speaker for March, Denise Carnihand who told us all about her quest to find her "African" family and how she ended up setting us 2 schools in the Kenyan slums. The ladies provided and manned the café at the Rotary Bookfair and several went on a Food Tour in Petone - a great day. april_2016

We had another busy month. We had a very informative talk from Esme Labotsky about Rest and Retirement homes and the help families need to care for people suffering from dementia. A group took an historical walk around Tinakori Road, the Botanical Gardens, Bolton Cemetery and Memorial Park and yet another group went off to play outdoor bowls with the Tawa Inner Wheel ladies. march_2015

We had a wonderful start to the year with our Pizza and Plonk evening - lots of games, fun and laughter. We had the opportunity to thank Jenny Jackson for all her hard work organising the Garden Trail and we received a lovely thank you card from the children of Virtuoso Strings.

Plimmerton Inner Wheel ladies had a great Christmas party with crackers, fairies, raffles, stories and carol singing. We also presented a cheque to Elizabeth Sneyd of Virtuoso Strings for $4,444, being money raised from our 'Rack Attack' fashion parade and sale of pre-loved clothes. january_2015

We have had a very busy month with the fundraiser for Virtuoso Strings (Rack Attack) which was a fantastic night, raising $4,444. We collected bras and panties for Zonta to give to the inmates at Arohata and the Angel Tree presents donated for the children of inmates. Then the combined fundraiser with Rotary, the Garden Trail, was a great success and fun to be a part of. december_2015

We have had yet another busy month. Our speaker Jacques Wilton from the English Language Partners gave us all a real insight to the difficulties that refugees face. We had a visit from Margy Carter from World Vision who gave us an update on Nary Rin, the adopted girl we sponsor. The ladies have been very busy sewing silkie pillows and wheat packs for the Cancer Society. A number of members went to the Wairarapa for a Walk and Talk visiting the Greek Chapel and a group of members went along to Parliament to see the Speakers flat to look at the Art collection. november_2015

Our speaker for October was Don Manning the very passionate Club Captain of Sailability, Sailing for the Disabled. Their club will shortly start sailing from Titahi Bay Boating Club which is very exciting for the young disabled people in our area. We also had a great WOW evening of our own with many creative hats and handbags. october_2015

We had Dr Elizabeth Sneyd from Virtuosa Strings and two of her young musicians aged 12 and 9 entertain us with music played on their violins at our last meeting. A vibrant lady with a love and commitment to her music. Several ladies from the Outside the Square group had a very interesting visit to the Whitireia Nursing School and a number of ladies volunteered their time helping with Daffodil Day. september_2015

Dr Patrick McCarthy was was a very interesting speaker and I am sure gave us all something to think about. Two new Sub Groups started this month, Out of the Square, and Cooks and Foodies groups. Both were a great success. august_2015

New President wants to Inspire and Inform
The new President for Inner Wheel for 2015-2016 is Carolyn Wallace. Her goal for the year is to give members opportunities to do things they might not normally attempt.
