Sunday 6 December is a little later than usual for the Pauatahanui Inlet Clean-up but the date is determined by the low tide at noon on a Sunday. Even with the proximity to Christmas and all the parties and events at this time of year , there was still a good turnout of over 50 people, and here special thanks must go to the parents and children of Papakowhai School, for without their numbers we would have been hard pressed to complete the clean-up and be back for  the BBQ at Brown’s Bay Park at noon.  The clean-up was well managed by Keep Porirua Beautiful Trust and GOPI (Guardians of Pauatahanui Inlet) and Terrie and Ian Turner manned the BBQ with food donated by Mana New World.  It is really pleasing to see rubbish levels reduced along the stretch of the Inlet foreshore by Te Ara Piko pathway and overall the piles of blue rubbish bags at the collection points were less than last year
