On Saturday 3 October Plimmerton Rotary supported the Stroke Foundation initiative of free blood pressure checks from 10.00 a.m. until 2.00 p.m.

Warmly ensconced at Whitby Mall with the support of a first year medical technician, more than eighty people came and had their blood pressure checked for free. Peter Sinke and Peter Lillico did a sterling job of encouraging people to come to the table for the free check and President Adrienne was the perfect administration assistant writing the results down on cards that people took away with them, as well as promoting Rotary.

Thanks to the staff at the New World supermarket for their help and assistance with coffees and food to keep us going!

This was a great example of community participation. A good day was had by all.

Postscript from the Editor: Sandie Ryan, a registered nurse, was invaluable, not only with her ability to deal with everyone seeking a check-up but also dispensed her wisdom to the rest of the team.
